2–4 week journey · Siem Reap, Cambodia
An Inspiration & Culture trip organised by Bloom Garden Bed & Breakfast — a unique experience designed to help you reconnect with yourself and the world, in the heart of Cambodia. Social entrepreneurship, sustainable travel, and work & education, woven into one journey.
Why this journey
Inspirational trips give you direction in your life. During this journey it is about taking up space, feeling freedom, saying goodbye to limiting beliefs, making choices, feeling seen, being meaningful, enjoying, playing and celebrating success. What better place to do this than in a completely different environment? The culture, your travelling companions, nature and the programme give you a unique opportunity to get closer to yourself and your motivations.
Through the mix of travel and work that we offer, you make in-depth contact with the people around you. You share your background and culture, and that creates mutual understanding — you feel equal. New smells, colours, animals, "wild" nature, different food, religions and music. Beauty and solidarity, but also corruption and a lack of resources. That makes you think and feel.
Plan your days
Tell us how much time you have, and we'll sketch out a simple, realistic plan — the same temples and trips we build the full Inspiration & Culture Journey around.
Day by day
Before you arrive we stay in regular contact to plan every detail. Here is the shape of a typical two-week journey — the full 2 to 4 week version builds outward from this core.
Picked up by our tuktuk from Siem Reap airport, welcomed with a fresh home-made lemon juice, and a first walk-through of your itinerary.
An evening sunset to open the tour, then Banteay Srey (the women's temple) and the hidden places on the main round. Day two starts with sunrise at Angkor Wat, followed by an English-speaking guide through Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, Takeo and Angkor Wat itself. The final day heads to the Roulous group, opening with a pottery class at Sin Sokhorn's "Khmer Ceramics and Weavery", the Roulous Temples after lunch, and a closing sunset at Phnom Krom over the Tonle Sap.
Touch-a-Life provides lunch for around 50 children from poor families during the week. On Saturdays, we cook for a rural community of about 200 residents and join in handing out lunches.
An evening at the local Road 60 street food market; a visit to Phare, The Cambodian Circus — theatre, dance, live music and acrobatics performed by artists trained at the free Phare Ponleu Selpak school in Battambang; and a Friday "Kaya Spa & Prosecco" evening with massage, mani-pedi and good company.
Rice fields, water buffalo and traditional stilt houses on the way to a nature reserve, a short boat trip, then kayaking deeper into the reserve. Lunch with a local family in a bamboo hut, followed by an ox cart ride to a local farm and pagoda, where you're blessed by a monk.
A 7km bike ride through the countryside to a local market for snacks, then on to a river village built on 25-metre stilts. Lunch with a local family, followed by a boat trip past the floating villages of the Tonle Sap.
A place of great religious importance before Angkor itself: a beautiful pagoda, a reclining Buddha carved from the mountain, the river of 1,000 lingas, and an impressive waterfall.
Somewhere in your final week, time to simply relax — you choose the treatment. Between all activities there's plenty of free time to discover the city and surroundings at your own pace; we'll point you to the best options for lunch, dinner, markets and nightlife.
UNESCO World Heritage
Sunrise over Angkor Wat, quiet stone corridors, and temple towers rising above the jungle — a small taste of the days you'll spend exploring the Angkor Archaeological Park.
